Product Description:
Jin Guan Yin, meaning "Golden Guan Yin," is a modern oolong cultivar from Anxi County, Fujian Province — created by crossing two celebrated tea bushes, Tie Guan Yin ("Iron Goddess of Mercy") and Huang Dan ("Yellow Bud"). The result is a tea that combines the floral elegance of Tie Guan Yin with a brighter, sweeter, more buttery character all its own.

Unlike traditional Tie Guan Yin, which is often more heavily oxidised and roasted, Jin Guan Yin is typically lightly oxidised, preserving a fresher, more delicate floral profile with a smooth, almost creamy mouthfeel. It has become increasingly popular among oolong drinkers looking for something aromatic yet gentle, with less of the roasted intensity found in some traditional oolongs.

At Brewesty, we source genuine Jin Guan Yin, offering a tea that's approachable, fragrant, and beautifully smooth — a wonderful entry point into Chinese oolongs, or a refined addition for those who already love Tie Guan Yin.

Tasting Notes:
Jin Guan Yin offers a light, floral aroma with notes of orchid and fresh flowers, balanced by a naturally sweet, buttery smoothness on the palate. The liquor is pale golden and delicate, with a clean, lingering sweetness and none of the bitterness sometimes found in more oxidised oolongs. It's fresh, fragrant, and easy to drink throughout the day.

Why People Love It:
  • A lighter, more floral alternative to traditional Tie Guan Yin
  • Naturally sweet and buttery — no need for milk or sugar
  • Delicate enough for daily drinking, without sacrificing complexity
  • Naturally caffeinated, smooth and gentle on the stomach
  • A great choice for oolong newcomers and experienced tea drinkers alike

How to Brew

How to Brew
  • Leaves: 1 heaped teaspoon (approx. 3-5g) per cup, or more for gongfu-style brewing
  • Water temperature: 90-95°C (avoid full boiling to protect the delicate floral notes)
  • Steep time: 2-3 minutes for the first steep
  • Re-steeping: Excellent for multiple infusions — can be steeped 4-6+ times, with the floral sweetness evolving across each steep

Storage
Keep in an airtight container, away from direct sunlight, heat, and moisture, to preserve the delicate floral aroma and freshness.
